Most children love to play in a sandpit & you'll be pleased to know there are so many benefits.
The development of fine motor skills as they scoop, mould, sift, & pour the sand using their eye & hand coordination filling up buckets & containers.
Gross motor skills are enhanced as they dig and crawl around in the sand, as well as bend, squat & jump in it.
Their creativity & imagination is able to run wild as they build castles & roads to name a few things, creating wonderful stories to explain their creative pieces.
Whilst in the sandpit the child interacts with others & it becomes a time for social interaction with their peers encouraging language development, whilst also developing language used to share the equipment & space.
The sensory development of touch is enhanced as they feel the sand & manipulate it by patting and banging it down. They can also experience the uncomfortable feeling of sand in their shoes & socks if they haven't taken them off before entering the sandpit. Also by adding water to sand they get another different texture to experience as it hardens & sets.
